The sensor has an 18 second update timer, and with the 4 AA batteries has a life of about two years. The sensor has no moving parts, which makes it extremely durable. If you’re operating the sensor in colder climates, it is recommended you use lithium batteries as alkaline can malfunction in colder temperatures. Practical range still remains within 100 feet under real world conditions, however. The two connect via a wireless protocol on the 433 MHz frequency with a range of up to 100 meters. It also includes a weather hub that is able to be mounted on a wall or on a tabletop using the included stand.
